It's Yamaha Time!

Today was one of the most fun days I've ever had riding a dirt bike.  After slowly breaking in my 2021 Yamaha YZ250F Monster Edition bike which seemed it "forever" I took it easy on the first day of riding but today was all mine.  Yeah, it was amazing.  I rode for close to 3 hours on the Mesquite MX track in Mesquite, Nevada.  I even got blisters on the inside of my thumbs and palms from the grips through my gloves.  My white palms of my gloves turned black from the new ODI grips that come with the bike.  Yeah, I rode and it was a great day.  My bike is amazing!  Dropping down from a 450 to a 250 was different but I feel in control now.  I'm a big kid, a little over 6 feet tall and around 210 pounds so the Yamaha 250 was the bike for me.  It came factory set exactly right for me.  A guy at the track measured the sag when I was on it and you guessed it; 100% correct.  Yes sireeee!  Absolutely love it.

I was dead tired after today was finished but when we got back home first thing grandpa and I did was get the power washer out, washed off the mud and clay, lubed the chain and changed the oil again completely draining it and adding 28 ounces of Yama Lube 10W-40.

Time to Ride the Yamaha YZ250F Monster Edition - First Ride after break-in.

I finally got the bike broke in last night with a little over 2 hours of breaking it in the right way.  I'm down here in Mesquite visiting my Grandpa and Grandma so we headed to the Mesquite MX track first thing this morning.  It's cold down here; around 30° this morning but warming up and not nearly as bad as back in Payson where it was under 20° this morning.

The 250 handles completely different than my Honda CRF450R; both the 05 and the 2017 so I'm taking it a little slow to feel out the bike.  Also, with the new bike I didn't want to push it today.

On one of the practice runs a group of us was racing up the big hill climb at Mesquite when at the top of the hill a kid behind me looped out.  All I could here is this bike winding up and all of a sudden the kid's bike was airborne and I felt it hit me in the back of my helmet.  That was close; too close.  That was lucky.  The bike was back flipping on that high hill and almost killed a guy shooting film of the riders.  It was a dangerous day at the track.  Another rider cased a double and went head over heal and totally ripped up his chin.  There was literally a flap of skin under his chin that was dangling and blood everywhere.  He was lucky that a couple of Paramedics from Vegas were riding, a guy and his girlfriend.  They had to be good people because they were both riding the Blucru - Yamahas.

I've got one more day of practice so I'll be headed to the track again tomorrow; this team pushing it a little bit more.  It's the best; it's great and I absolutely love it.

YAMAHA - BLUCRUOFFICIAL - OH HECK YEAH!

BREAK-IN IS OVER - IT'S TIME TO RIDE
My grandpa and I are headed to the Mesquite MX track this morning and it's finally time to open up my brand spankin' new 2021 Yamaha YZ250F Monster Edition purchased from Mike Basso of St. George, Utah Factory Powersports.  Okay-brrr, 32 ° F this morning in Mesquite.  That's a cold morning here in the desert but it's 22° F this morning in Utah County so I'll take it.
"LET'S DO IT!"

I'm looking for a few good financial backers and sponsors to help me and my grandpa out.  He's retired and helping all he can but sure could use some help.  If you know of anybody out there that would like to back me, no matter the amount I can really use the help.  Don't let the new bike fool you.  We sat down and put it on paper.  It's cheaper to buy new than to keep sinking in money to repair an older bike.  Anyway, I would really appreciate any help you can offer.  Click here to help GOFUNDME.

Oh Yeah I'm riding a 2021 Yamaha YZ250F Monster Energy Special Edition

Today is the best day of my life.  My grandpa texted me a picture of my future bike sitting on the showroom floor at Factory Powersports in St. George; a brand new 2021 Yamaha YZ250F Monster Energy Edition.  Are you kidding me, I texted back?

Heck yeah, here it is being loaded in the back of his truck; strapped down ready for the trip down to Mesquite.

I guess if you spend close to ten thousand dollars on a brand new bike you can ask for a great looking Yamaha hat.

This air filter is the greatest engineering from Yamaha!
Yamaha found a way to tuck in the exhaust manifold.

TOP FEATURES - Okay, this is why I picked this bike:

Monster Energy® Yamaha Racing Edition
Inspired by the YZ250F raced by the Yamaha Supercross team, the Monster Energy® Yamaha Racing Edition features an aggressive color and graphics package that stands out from the crowd.

All-New Cylinder Head
The YZ250F's already potent motor was treated to a host of refinements, including an all-new cylinder head with an improved intake port shape, new exhaust camshaft profile, a new silencer, and an updated ECU and more—to produce stronger mid- to top-end power and increased peak power, while retaining its class-leading low-end torque.

All-New Intake
New air box lid intake ducts have been added for increased air flow with a new high flow air filter, air cleaner boot featuring a new shape for increased flow and a larger diameter throttle body joint.

High Tech 250cc Four-Stroke
The YZ250F™ is ready to roost the competition with race-winning features never before seen in the 250cc class.

Power Tuner App
Yamaha’s free of charge and industry-exclusive Power Tuner app puts the flexibility and precision tunability of the GYTR® Power Tuner into your smartphone. Make fueling and ignition timing changes instantly and upload them to the bike for ultimate track-side tuning.

Electric Starter System
Utilizing a compact starter motor and ultra-lightweight lithium battery, the YZ250F brings the convenience of push-button starting to the racetrack for effortless restarts under pressure and relaxed riding when the clock isn’t ticking.

Advanced Engine Design
Featuring a high-spec piston, aggressive cam profiles, cylinder geometry and more, Yamaha’s reversed cylinder head layout works to give YZ250F riders the best balance of high-rpm power with a broad, useable powerband.

Tuned Aluminum Frame
Yamaha’s bilateral beam frame features main spars, engine mounts and mounting position which are designed to centralize mass and provide an ideal balance between cornering feel and straight-line rigidity.

Class-Leading Suspension
Yamaha's spring-type forks with refined, speed-sensitive damping give industry-leading suspension performance straight out of the box.

Durability Enhancements
The crank case, cam chain and tensioner, waterpump, clutch basket, and the third, fourth and fifth transmission gears have all been refined to enhance overall durability.

ENGINE

Innovative and Upgraded Engine
The liquid-cooled, DOHC 4-valve, fuel-injected engine features a forward-positioned straight downdraft intake with symmetrical intake and exhaust ports. For 2021, the engine has been updated with new cylinder head featuring a new air intake system, an improved intake port shape, new exhaust camshaft profile, and an updated ECU—all to produce stronger mid- to top-end power and increased peak power, while retaining its class-leading low-end torque.

Exclusive Power Tuner App
The free of charge and industry-exclusive Yamaha Power Tuner app brings the power of the GYTR Power Tuner to your iOS® or Android® device. Using wireless connectivity to talk to the bike’s onboard CAN-bus network, the app allows owners to adjust air/fuel mixture and ignition timing maps to tune engine performance for track conditions, record race log information, and monitor a range of data such as maintenance and system diagnosis, engine run time and more.

Electric Starter System
The YZ250F features a compact electric starter system that minimizes restart delays on the track and adds convenience everywhere else. Powered by a high-capacity and ultra-lightweight, four-cell lithium-ion battery, the system adds minimal weight.

Adjustable Engine Maps
Two-mode adjustable engine mapping allows the rider to adjust engine character with the push of a button, making it easy to tune the YZ250F for changing track or weather conditions.

Piston, Rod and Crankshaft Balance
A flat-top forged piston features a bridge-box design for additional strength with minimal weight. The piston, rings and DLC-coated piston pin, along with the offset cylinder configuration, all reduce friction loss and contribute to quick response. The engine’s intake ports, cam profiles, high-strength connecting rod and optimized crank and counterbalancer all work together to produce potent high-rpm power with user-friendly delivery and exceptional reliability.

Advanced Fuel Injection
The adjustable fuel injection system uses a 44mm throttle body, fed by a high-pressure electric fuel pump that injects fuel through a 12-hole Denso® injector. This ensures optimum fuel atomization and air/fuel calibration for excellent rideability in a wide range of riding conditions.

Wraparound Rear-Positioned Exhaust Layout
An innovative exhaust pipe design improves mass centralization and power development characteristics. This layout moves the rear end of the exhaust pipe farther forward and positions the muffler closer to the bike’s center of mass.

Enhanced Cooling
Lightweight radiators are larger and angled more directly in the incoming air stream for improved cooling, even under the most demanding race conditions. Inside the engine, the high-flow impellor and water pump boost endurance and durability under the toughest racing conditions.

Durable Transmission
The transmission gears, dogs and shift mechanisms are designed to smooth gear changes and improve durability under the heavy demands of motocross racing. The YZ250F also features a large-diameter clutch to boost reliability even further under high-heat conditions.

CHASSIS/SUSPENSION

Advanced Aluminum Frame
The YZ250F’s compact frame refines the instinctive handling that makes this Yamaha one of the best handling machines in the class. The large upper frame bracing improves rigidity and durability. The wider rear frame spars and YZ250F-specific engine mounts centralize mass for the best possible balance of bump absorption, stiffness and feeling of grip.

Compact Body and Seat Design
The YZ250F utilizes compact bodywork from tip to tail, including a narrow fuel tank specifically designed for motocross demands. In addition to shaving weight, the body design provides more comfortable knee grip and control feel, with a seat shaped to give the rider additional room to move aboard the machine.

Enhanced Mass-Centralization
The engine, aluminum muffler and compact fuel tank are positioned close to the machine's center of mass. This layout contributes to centralized mass for a lightweight handling feeling on the track. The wide 55mm footpegs help lower the rider's center of gravity for enhanced machine balance, control and rider comfort.

270mm Front Brake
A large 270mm front brake disc is the same system fitted to the YZ450F™ and uses an aggressive pad material for exceptional stopping power and braking control. Out back, a durable heat-resistant rear rotor boosts brake durability.

Class-Leading Suspension
Industry-leading, fully adjustable KYB® coil spring-type fork with speed-sensitive damping provides exceptional balance between handling and bump absorption for race-winning handling performance. The linkage-type rear suspension features a KYB® shock with revised damping characteristics to match the chassis.

Strong, Lightweight Wheels
Careful computer-aided refinement of each wheel’s cross-sectional profile shaves valuable weight without sacrificing durability.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Adjustable Handlebar Mounts
The 4-position adjustable handlebar mounts are rubber-mounted to improve comfort and reduce handlebar vibration while the alloy handlebar centralize overall mass.

Embedded Graphics
Yamaha’s unique embedded graphics are built into the bodywork for extended durability, resisting both peeling and damage.

Race-Winning Details
The YZ250F boasts top-spec details including 1-1/8” aluminum tapered handlebars, wide 55mm footpegs, a quick-adjust clutch perch, stylish blue rims and gold chain.

Simplified Servicing
The sleek air cleaner cover provides toolless access to the air filter, positioned at the front of the bike to avoid roost from the rear wheel.
